A bridge is a non-removable appliance fixed to teeth on either side of a space, replacing one or more missing teeth. A bridge can be cemented or bonded to supporting teeth or to implants adjacent to the space.
Fitting a dental bridge usually takes at least two appointments. First the teeth are prepared and the bridge will be designed and constructed with precision, to be sure it has the proper bite and matches the teeth on the other side of your mouth.
The bridge depends on the adjacent teeth, so you will want to brush and floss very faithfully to keep the bridge and its adjacent teeth clean. With proper care, dental bridges will last for years. They may eventually require replacement or re-cementing due to wear.
