Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom teeth, also called “third molars”, typically emerge between the ages of 18 and 25. Some people will never develop wisdom teeth; some will have them emerge with no complications whatsoever.
Most commonly, wisdom teeth become impacted as they erupt, which means that there isn’t enough space for them in your mouth, or that they are positioned oddly. Sometimes they can even become trapped under the jawbone. This can be very painful or cause problems for your other teeth, such as infection. Extracting impacted wisdom teeth is usually the best option.
Potential complications from wisdom tooth removal increase as a person ages, so there are definite benefits to having them removed earlier rather than later.
